Two Arts, One Story: A Performance by Zach MAMA Motherhood Band with Live Painting by Axel Mathieu-Mahias

On July 10th, the Philadelphia Art Alliance is pleased to welcome the Zach MAMA Motherhood band and artist Axel Mathieu-Mahias for a very special evening that will merge live music with art-making.

Born in Clamart, France, Zach MAMA has been playing the drums since he was 5 years old. After studying at the American Modern School of Music in Paris, he moved to Philadelphia in 2012 and formed his own jazz quintet, the Zach MAMA Motherhood band, which consists of:

Dan Nissenbaum - Trumpet & Compositions
Tal Shtuhl - Tenor Saxophone
Ernest Stuart - Trombone
Michael Bond - Piano
Jordan Berger - Bass
Zach Mama - Drums & Compositions

The group has performed in New York and at reputable local venues like Chris' Jazz Café, Orlieb's, and Sassafras. For this program, the band will only play original music written by Dan Nissenbaum and Zach Mama. To accompany the music, Zach's brother, Axel Mathieu-Mahias, will be painting throughout the duration of the performance. His most recent work can be viewed here.
