Imaginary Music from the Philadelphia Electro-Acoustic Duet (PhEAD)

Imaginary Music

Andrew Litts & Ryan Olivier (PhEAD)

Imaginary Music is a concert for the eyes and ears. Mixing live-performance, imagery, and technology, Andrew Litts and Ryan Olivier (the Philadelphia Electro-Acoustic Duet, “PhEAD”) present their own works along side new multimedia arrangements of Morton Feldman’s “Palais de Mari” and Steve Reich’s “Clapping Music.”

Inspired by the their love of contemporary music and the cognitive potentials of new media, Andrew Litts and Ryan Olivier formed the Philadelphia Electro-Acoustic Duet (PhEAD) in 2016 with the goal of sharing their music and the music that inspires them in new and engaging formats. Individually their works have been featured at various festivals and conferences, including the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States, the International Computer Music Conference in the United Kingdom, the Punto y Raya Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland, and the Workshop on Computer Music and Audio Technology in Taiwan. Additionally their individual works have been performed by the Network for New Music, the Momenta Quartet, Blair McMillen, the Relâche Ensemble, the Cygnus Ensemble, ensemble39, the Glaux Trio, and members of Nonsemble 6, in addition to being featured in Philadelphia film festivals. This show is their first combined effort to present their works in an evening-length format.
