Classical Accordionist: Nadia Guseva

On Monday, April 22, 7:30pm highly acclaimed and award-winning concert accordionist Nadia Guseva will perform at the Philadelphia Art Alliance. Though she lives and teaches in St. Petersburg, Russia, she tours extensively, delighting and enthralling audiences worldwide.

Nadezda Guseva was born in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1984. She began to study accordion at the age of five. After finishing school she went to the St. Petersburg Musical Lyceum where she continued her education under preeminent professor Alexander Dmitriev. In 2001, she entered the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory where she distinguished herself as top of her class. After graduating in 2006, she began teaching professionally at the Conservatory, touring, and winning many international competitions.

In 2008, she recorded the album “Solo For Two” in collaboration with Alexander Shirunov. The album is highly appreciated by critics and professional musicians. She finished post graduate studies at the Conservatory in 2009, and was named Laureate of the national Education Project.

Nadezda Guseva performs frequently in Russia and abroad. She participates in many national and international competitions, including the International accordion Festival in Saint-Petersburg;  the Young talents of Russia held in Tatarstan, Russia; and the Accordion Festivals in Vilnius and Norway.  She has also had tours in France and Germany.

She is currently wrapping up a visit to the United States. After performing in New York and Philadelphia, she will be returning to St. Petersburg.
